Runcible Spoon is a favorite among the Bloomington community. Simply put, it is the grandfather at Christmas with a cigar aroma engrained into his clothes that is beloved by all.
A very cozy whole in the wall place.one of the best breakfast spots I would say.
Paid our second visit to Runcible Spoon yesterday. I am in awe that the staff can operate so well in such small confined spaces. The last time we visited we stuffed ourselves into a small booth in the basement. This time we were in the front entry room which was more "spacious" but a wee bit drafty. We didn't care though because the food was so good! Three of our party got the beautiful hot chocolates and three more got the croissant eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. It was all delicious and we saw several other beautiful plates being delivered to nearby tables. The decor was a source of entertainment and conversation. We can't wait to visit again!
The atmosphere is the best part of this place. I definitely agree with most individuals that the restaurant has its own personality. Coming for the atmosphere is worth it. A brief description helps. The main dining areas are cramped and void of personal space, yet the warm lighting coupled with the bookshelves give a gesture of a warm hug. The cramped space adds to this warmth of the place. The decor simply adds to this sense of belonging. Overall, it's quite lovely among the rest of the area.
With any restaurant there are three concepts that must be considered. Food, atmosphere, and customer service.
Customer service is like the food. It is above average, but there are some pieces that are missing that would nicely tie everything together. For instance, there are moments where the servers are overwhelmed by the crowd. Not servers' fault, but could be improved. Another odd thing, more of a personal observation, is that the employees tend to not have a peculiar dress code. Simple black attire. I do find it odd with the tone of the restaurant. However, to each her/his own.
Quiet chill place to study/read. First, it was intimidating because it seemed like a fancy restaurant, but as I went often enough, got more comfortable. Tuesday is great Irish music evening, and great coffee all the time with nice decoration!
3)Their in house roasted potatoes are delicious and crunchy.Pancakes are fluffy, Add on your choice fruits and whipped cream and eggs.
4)PARKING is street side on weekdays, weekends you can park in the lot opposite.

The food served is above average. Though there are moments where the food does not reach expectations. Do not misunderstand, the food is good. I would not say exceptional or fantastic. It is worth your time. The beverages are decent. The coffee is average. I will say that the seasonal drinks are interesting and unexpected in size.
A great atmosphere here, whether you're on the patio or tucked away in a cozy corner inside. The staff and clientele are eclectic and friendly, with a feeling of camaraderie being prevalent. Their menu items are all delicious, especially the brunch options. They also have an assortment of coffee drinks which are well prepared and enjoyable as well. There is sometimes a wait, and in some places it can be a tight squeeze; but it is well worth the wait, and the proximity just adds to the feeling of togetherness.
