I found a dog online and called ahead to find out if he was still available. I would be driving 2 hours. They said yes, they were open until 7 and took down my info to hold him. I left within 20 minutes to go get him. I was in two traffic jams but got there about 6:20. It took them a bit to find him. They put us in a room to bond and I filled out the paperwork. A girl said she'd be back to start the counciling so I waited. She didn't come. Then a guy came back and took the dog saying it was closing time. I went out to the desk. The woman I spoke with on the phone said it was 7 and I'd have to talk to the director. She told me I'd have to come back in tomorrow. I let her know how crazy this was because I told them I was coming, I had been waiting and couldn't just drive 2 hours tomorrow. I'd already adopted a dog there before and had been through their counseling. She spoke to me rudely letting me know that this dog needed more counseling and she couldn't just do it after 7 even if I did drive 2 hours and had been waiting. My MIL was with me and couldn't believe how rude she was and the whole situation. You'd think they'd want the dog to have a forever home! Not if it goes after 7! So now he sits in a cold, lonely cage waiting for love and care.

Adopt a pet from MCHA as we did. They have all the pets that need love and a good home. We adopted two puppies terriers and we all have become a great family and our day's in retirement somehow because of the love they gave us. Adopt from the MCHA.

They tell you when you adopt a cat that there's a possibility of respiratory infection. What they actually mean is all of their cats are infected with one or both types of cat herpes. (As admitted by one of their staff when I returned a cat) And it's HIGHLY contagious. It is not curable. There are periodic flare ups that require medication. I had to quarantine all my animals and return the cat. It broke my heart. If they KNOW an animal has special needs, they should be required to tell us. That's like cutting a break line and saying "There's a slight possibility of mal-stoppage. That's normal." Another thing I'd like to note is that when I returned the animal, the desk person said they only have a vet come in once a week in the best of times.

When I first adopted my dog they were nice. At her first vet appointment, not even a week after I got her, she had a ton of issues that cost around $700. I called the animal shelter and asked if they could help pay for some of the cost. They stated they couldn't. I asked why they would let someone adopt a sick dog without informing them. They stated they had too many animals and the vet couldn't see them all. I had her for a year. She wasn't house trained. When I took her back to the shelter they were awful to me. They treated me like I abused her. I loved her but she was sick and wasn't house trained, I work fulltime and she was becoming a fulltime job.

Some staff is friendly others are not the last dog I got was a pit mix beautiful fun loving dog I have had her five month went to ask them to help find out what's wrong w her and 1000 dollars and fuve months with us and she has lung disease that she has had for a long time according to the vet. Now I watch her die or take her back. So we take her back and want a replacement t and not to pay 55 but no help from then no sympthy for my kids and family
