Great place to eat! If you're a Bloomington native who loved the Mustard's mozzarella sticks, Opie's has 'em (and so much more). Give them a try, you won't be disappointed!
I ordered the Teriyaki burger which comes with a full slice of pineapple on it. How that could still be bland I don't know. The food was edible that is all. Combining mediocre food with exuberant prices leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The one redeeming quality, which have them two stars, was their queso. It was really tastey, too bad their chips weren't
Service was slow. Prices are high for a burger and fries. Food was very good!
They get the benefit of 2 stars because the burger tasted good. Nothing else about our family dining experience was good. The server, who I'm sure is perfectly nice, was completely absent. It's as if her goal was to communicate with us as little as possible. The wait for 5 burgers on a lazy Sunday afternoon when they were slow was easily twice what it should have been. Was the server apologetic? Did she check with us? Nope. Refilled our waters in silence. Couple the dining experience with a BWW plethora of gratuitous sports television and this is the first and only time I'll visit Opie Taylor's.
The bad: I have eaten there twice this week. Both times I ordered the same menu item and both times my stomach was severally upset for about 24 hours. The first time it happened, I just passed it off as no big deal. But twice in a row, with the same food in less than a few days from each other...just too coincidental.
The good: Laid back atmosphere. Awesome selection of burgers, sides and even deserts. Wait staff is super friendly. Family friendly.
