Located inside of the IUAM but separate from it, this gift shop and cafe operates even when the galleries are open so you can stop in for treat or find some unique gift seven days a week. The drinks are all made right there but the food is brought in from other local or national services including the Bakehouse, BluBoy Chocolates, and Askinosie Chocolate. I wish they had more food variety. Seating is often taken up by teachers and students (who really need to be using offices) but during the summer and warm weather the patio is open so you can see more art works while you drink an Italian ice and nibble on a muffin.
I absolutely love the Angles Cafe and gift shop! The items are unique and there is always something interesting to buy. A great place to find that special something for someone special. The people who work here are all so friendly and helpful, too. The food is delicious, so much better than your standard cafeteria fare. Since the museum is scheduled to close for renovations soon, make a point to visit asap.
The gift selections ranges from umbrellas to books about the collection in the IUAM to generic art books, to stationery and cards, to ties and scarves in sometimes matching art themes (which my in-laws loved to get as a Christmas gift one year. The prices are a bit high so you might want to check out their website for sales they have a few times a year including sales where you get to meet the folks who make the pieces for sale. No, you can't buy works from the museum but the gift shop does offer some copies of pieces from the three main galleries.
