Thank you Scot.
I go here to buy things that are cheap like plumbing parts, nuts, bolts, sockets, wrenches etc. One trip the website said they had a 30mm socket in stock, I went to the store it wasn't in stock. Associate looked in computer and computer said it was still in stock but it was nowhere to be found on the shelves. No big deal I was able to borrow the tool I needed from the auto parts store anyway. Today I wanted to buy a toilet repair kit and I found the one I wanted on their web site. I went to purchase it and I found out that if I pay for it online to pick up in store there is a "processing fee". So I would have pay an extra couple bucks for an associate to walk to the aisle, and bring my item to the front so I can pick it up. A processing fee for this is not competitive when compared to every other retailer who doesn't charge additional fees for in store pick up. I will just go by the store on my way home from work and save the fee. These are minor annoyances would not prevent me from shopping here again.
Went inside where i have to walk all the way to the back of the store to get to the contractors area... Then sold 4 items that have to be picked up outside in the yard.. So after walking all the way to the front so i can pay... " this is all marketing they want you think of something else you might need or want and impulse buy it". Then get in my vehicle and drive back around to the back 50' from where i had walked to get my load ticket.. To find that they only had 1of the 4 items i purchased... This is something i needed to finish a job.. You would think their computer would keep track of the inventory what has been sold and stocked??? But after all of this waste of time i went inside to get my money back and the manager hands me off to a cashier and she says so you want to return these items and i said no... She said then what is it your wanting... I told her i cant return something that you never had and i never was able to recieve to begin with... This is the mantality you recieve when you do business with menards. I have returned things here in the past and they tried to rip me off and not give me my full refund.. Had to get the store Manager involved and he had to review the security video before they would refund me the full amount of what i had returned and restocked for them.. This is after basically being called a lier buy a clerk that all he ever did when i seen him there was stand at the front exit doors and look at you like your packing off the store when your leaving... I have been to lumber yards all over this state and i have never been treated like i have been here.. I had to literally almost get into a physical altercation before they would even call the store manager. Had 3 clerks in my face saying i was lieing before the manager came and refunded my money... I have been to other Menards in this state and never seen anyone that just stands all day at the exit... I would strongly urge anyone to go out of town if they just have to do business with Menards... Because if they where all like this one nobody would SPEND big money at Menards...
I like Menards a lot. I have always preferred their selection and prices over the other hardware stores in the area. One of the last visits there though, an employee approached my group and told us that our service dog should be in a cage and not in a store. He was not making any noise or getting into anything, he was simply walking next to my wife like he is trained to do. Said employee then waned to argue service dog rights and follow us through the whole store. When we complained to the manager he defended the employee's right to not like dogs. Needless to say, we go to Lowes now.
I should have done this a couple weeks ago. An associate by the name of Scot helped me out tremendously. He went way above and beyond any and all expectations. I purchased an item that was a floor model, it needed a lot of work to get it prepared to ship. He helped prepare the item and also helped me pack it out front. I had to get to UPS that evening to ship the item. I thought I would make it with minutes to spare. I would totally have missed my deadline had it not been for Scot. I sincerely appreciate his dedication to customer service.
I appreciate all of the many different varieties they offer. I went to Menards today looking for cabinet knobs. I had a pretty good idea of what style I wanted. Well I was overwhelmed with all of the various styles, finishes and prices! Thank you, Menards for the successful shopping day ❣️
