Bummer experience. I took an electonic keyboard in there with two defective key weights. The head electronic offered to re-do all the key weights so I wouldn't "have to worry about it in the future." A couple months later, I pulled out the instrument for the first time to find that (despite being stored in a climate-controlled area) the epoxy Kappatronix used had melted through the body of the keyboard and had gummyed up all eighty-eight keys. But, since it was past sixty days, there was no warranty and so not even a discount to correct the defective work that magnified the problem.
Guy there is honest and friendly. Would recommend to everyone.
I heard about Kappatronix from a friend who said it was THE place in town to have your electronics serviced and -let me tell you- he was not wrong! They replaced the battery in my vintage Ensoniq ESQ-1 and were very generous and helpful when it began exhibiting other weird issues. The rates are fair for the services rendered and, more importantly, you're dealing with local folks with integrity.
I have a high-end audio system amd have worked with many technicians over the years. High priced European techs botched a 230V to 115V ac conversion on an expensive power supply. Kappatronix resolved the error and fixed the problem in a short time at a fraction of the cost I used to spend. Since then Kappatronix have worked on a variety of different audio gear for me including vintage tube amplifiers, active crossovers and subwoofers, expensive cabling - all done meticulously which shows their experince and technical competence. Obviously they cannot work miracles on cheap gear in borderline condition. But if you value your high quality audio or video components, this is the place to go. I'm glad I reside close by because I would indeed commute greater distances to have them service my equipment. Incidentally, my friends and associates are clients of Kappatronix as well due to word of mouth only - not by advertizing hype.
